Good day to all!

Welcome back to Burpz and thank you for patiently waiting for my next post:)

I was so busy the past few months running so many things on my mind with a pile load of jobs ongoing! By the way, not to waste any of your time, a little update of myself here! I’ve just joined Genesis-Global Gems & Jewellery (Singapore) as the Asst. Vice-President for Business Development and i’ll just like to share with you what the company has installed for all you people here!

A Great Plan!

Some people might have thought about this and i’m no different from you. I’ve always been thinking of many ways to make more Money! But still, many of us do not dare to go into what seems so real, perhaps we don’t believe how much we could make out of it, or maybe we just might have thought that keeping our money in the bank is a rather safe idea compare to having an alternative investment.

So now, since i’ve stepped my foot into it, let me share with you a little more about it.

Let’s take a look and compare the prices of Fixed- Deposits in Singapore.

DBS Singapore – Fixed Deposit

*Note that we’re looking at the Fixed Deposit of $20,000 – $49,999 for 24 mths, (max in the graph) you are only getting 0.55% interest from the money you’ve put aside after 2 years! – extracted from DBS Singapore on 22nd October 2012
Effective Date: 20/10/2012

Now, have a thought. If you are an educated person ( i believe you are) and you’re aware of the kind of inflation that we as Singaporeans like you and i go through, is that 0.55% enough to tide you through your price hike when you get your Teh- Terik and Roti Prata??

the ans? – you know it better yourself.

So let’s now take a look at what Genesis-Global Gems & Jewellery (Singapore) can help you with.

Seemingly, you decide that you’re comfortable with parting an amount between SGD$20,000 to SGD$40,000 and you’re looking to get a beneficial return of about 2.4% per annum, then i’ve got an option just for you!

In the world of financial instruments, people are familiar with banks and fixed deposits. But in the world of precious stones, and especially diamonds, there had never been a ‘banking system’ that allows investors to generate regular returns or ‘interest’ on those precious assets.

Investors in precious stones or diamonds are almost always limited to the arena of auction houses and sporadic pools of private collectors to sell their investments for capital gains, which are non-guaranteed. There had also never been a marketplace that provides ready liquidity for the savvy investor to liquidate his or her holdings with certainty of capital protection plus a decent return on investment.

But the good new is that now, there is!

An Alternative Investments
At Genesis-Global Gems & Jewellery (Singapore) Pte Ltd, they only deal with diamonds of the highest quality that have been graded and certified as Triple Excellent for Polish, Cut and Symmetry by the world renowned Gemological Institute of America (GIA).

By their standard, the Triple Excellent grading has always been the minimum criteria for a diamond to be regarded as having real investment value, apart from the other minimum criteria of colour F and clarity VS1. Any feature that exceeds these criteria would simply be a bonus.

5-year Diamond Investment Plan*
As the plan is to ensure that their customers benefit from the diamond investment in a real and tangible manner, they allow the customers to keep the diamond which they bought from, while reaping handsome customer cash rewards totalling 12% return on investment over a period of 5 years. This is an example of how it works:

Step 1 – Buy from them a 1.20 carat, F colour, VS1 clarity, Triple Excellent GIA certified diamond at S$32,888.

Step 2 – Collect 5% of S$32,888 on the first anniversary of the date of purchase.

Step 3 – Collect 3% of S$32,888 on the second anniversary of the date of purchase.

Step 4 – Collect 2% of S$32,888 on the third anniversary of the date of purchase.

Step 5 – Collect 1% of S$32,888 on the fourth anniversary of the date of purchase.

Step 6 – Collect 1% of S$32,888 on the fifth anniversary of the date of purchase.

Step 7 – Exercise the Put Option to sell the diamond back to us at S$32,888 no earlier than 3 months before, and no later than one month before, the 5th anniversary of the date of purchase. Of course the diamond must not be damaged in order for the Put Option to be validly exercised. In this regard, the safest and surest way of preventing any damage over the five years would be for the diamond to be kept by us in our high security storage facility at the Singapore Freeport under insurance protection, which service is provided free of charge. The choice is yours – to keep it yourself or to keep it with us.

If our customer chooses to sell the diamond to anyone at any time after their purchase of the diamond from us, our customer is free to do so without any penalty, and he or she still gets the above customer cash rewards aggregating 12% of S$32,888, which will be paid out in the stages as shown above. Of course, by selling the diamond to another party, the Put Option would lapse and therefore the customer’s right to sell back the diamond to us would accordingly be terminated.

After hearing what Genesis-Global offer, we’ll take a look at why is Diamond such a great investment tool:

Take a closer look, you’ll see how much Diamonds of such have appreciated over time. Now, that’s what i call investment.

Maybe the illustration above can give you a little idea of what an alternative investment could do to help you in difficult times, however, it’s a choice that you or your family have to make. I did it, you can too!

Well, this is probably the most talked about topic in Singapore now with the recent rumor that our Nation’s Icon and founding father is Dxxd, or maybe in coma…

Well, pictures of him walking out of Singapore General Hospital was spreading all over twitter last night, true or not, the nation will see it tonight:)

dead or alive? We’ll hear it soon.

It has been a struggle for many restaurants in Singapore to differentiate what’s “Fine” service to a service that is just fine. Personally, i agree that many restaurants tries to be the best, if not, trying too hard to be the best, however, many at times, they forget the fundamentals of service which is the “personal touch”.

So this trip, we’re taking a look at a restaurant right smacked in the middle of Duxton Road, La Maison Fatien.

Housed in the heritage shophouse of Duxton Road, La Maison Fatien stands out in its simple, yet cosy decor admist the street of bars and boutique hotel. Designed in a very traditional French Bistro concept that reminded me of the old Le Bistrot du Sommelier when it was at Prinsep street, simple, yet elegant.

THE IMPRESSION

Walking into La Maison Fatien was like stepping into another world, it made me feel as if i’ve taken my baggage, left for France and into a bistro. We were very quickly greeted by Charly Terrade, the Food and Beverage Director of La Maison Fatien which checked our reservation and led us to our table on the 2nd level.

Once seated, we were asked if we wanted sparkling, still or iced- water ( a norm for restaurants, which i encourage as it provides consumers an option) and the bread was then served to us thereafter. Well, since this is not meant to be a food blog, i shall not talk to much about the bread, but i’ll just say that it’s DEFINITELY to die for!

The menu was then presented to us by the wait staff and we were left to ourselves for a little while. Now, here’s the part that i think they should improve, on the Menu, they have a chef’s special for the appetizer, mains and desserts, i reckon that the service staff should bring us through the specials for the day before leaving us to look at the menu as it took us about 5 minutes to get the attention of one of their staff to tell us more about their specials.

Nevertheless, the service recovery was quick, apparently, the lady that we managed to get the attention of is a student from China who is currently studying in Singapore and works part- time for the restaurant. She speaks pretty decent English and her product knowledge was excellent. This explains the proper training procedures for both the full- time and the part- time staff get which many restaurants do not conduct properly. (Fundamentals)

After we made our orders, Charly then came back to our table, presented us with a beautiful bottle of champagne which just arrrived the day before for us to taste, it was indeed a pleasure, PLUS POINTS!!
he then follow- up with the story behind La Maison Fatien and the birth of the restaurant in Singapore.

Summary of La Maison Fatien (Singapore)

“Fatien used to travel to Singapore a lot for business and he never found a place which offers quality and comfort food close to home, thus, he decided to open his own “canteen”, named after their wine making house, La Maison Fatien, a boutique winery and the rest is history…”

As he comes to the end of the story, our appetizers arrived, what a perfect time! As the rest of my friends tucked into their appetizers, i thought it would be nice to order a bottle of red to go along with our mains, especially after Charly’s kind gesture of giving us a bottle of Champagne.

The whole night ended with a lot of catching up with the trade and knowing more about La Maison Fatien, what else can i say, comfortable night filled with a remarkable atmosphere and a fine service which meets my expectation of having a personal touch to it.

If you ask me whether i would be back again? My Answer, i would!

Customer Service: 4.5 / 5

Hi!
Good day to all, i hope all of you have had a great time over the last few weeks of July:)

On another note, i’ll like to inform my fellow readers of Burpz that we will be moving towards the direction of providing feedback to our readers about the customer service in Singapore and all across Asia!

So the question is…. How does this work?

Yes, we will be traveling all across Singapore and Asia to do our review on the customer service our dear restaurants, hotels, transport systems and even retail outlets have to offer. From that, we will be benchmarking them with a ranking of 1 – 10 with 10 being Excellent and 1 being Very Poor.

So help us! If you have any experiences that you want to share, or if you want us to check out a certain place or even have us at your place as a mystery shopper, email us at enquiries2burpz@gmail.com and we will be down in no time to give you consumers/ business owners a review:)

Till then, happy shopping eating and traveling!

Leaving you with something i got from Susan Ward:

Good customer service is the lifeblood of any business. You can offer promotions and slash prices to bring in as many new customers as you want, but unless you can get some of those customers to come back, your business won’t be profitable for long.

Good customer service is all about bringing customers back. And about sending them away happy – happy enough to pass positive feedback about your business along to others, who may then try the product or service you offer for themselves and in their turn become repeat customers.

If you’re a good salesperson, you can sell anything to anyone once. But it will be your approach to customer service that determines whether or not you’ll ever be able to sell that person anything else. The essence of good customer service is forming a relationship with customers – a relationship that that individual customer feels that he would like to pursue.

How do you go about forming such a relationship? By remembering the one true secret of good customer service and acting accordingly; “You will be judged by what you do, not what you say.”
